The Executive Order number 9066 was the authorization of the internment of thousands of Japanese Americans. It was due to the rising hysteria because of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. It granted power to the Secretary of War to intern and provide shelter for these people. Once they enter the camps they are subjected to all of its rules and restrictions. Reason was to control the movement of enemy aliens in the country.

In the Infamy Speech Roosevelt centered it around the unhonorable workings of the Japanese government. He worked to channel the anger at pearl harbor onto the future of the war. Changing anger into a palpable thing that could be worked and manipulated for the war effort. He emphasized how America was the definite victim and retaliating was the right path to go on. To defend our honor we only had one choice but to strike back. He struck below the belt in not the form of idealism but patriotism for the country. He said how very many American lives had been lost. His final move was to silence the isolationist movement in an effort to keep America on the world stage.

In early 1935 racial segregation was normal in public schools across America. Linda, a young African American had to walk several miles to her black school when the white one was just seven blocks away. Oliver Brown tried to enroll her in the white elementary school but the principal refused. He went to the NAACP for help and they were eager to give it. This court case turned into Brown vs. Board of Education. The Board argued that starting blacks early in school would prepare them for segregation they would face in later life. After it war brought to the Supreme Court they finally struck down the precident set by Plessy vs. Ferguson making seperate but eqal unconstitutional.
